Crisis of Values: Reclaiming Our Society

Our value system as a Nation is being called to question. Ethics and values that once defined our society are no longer held in high esteem. Consequently, our moral fabric is wearing thin, leading to a society in which lack of regard for values thrives. Many of the challenges confronting us today are a result of compounded degeneration over the years.

A lot of the challenges confronting us today stem from a national deterioration of values. As a result, Nigerians are sometimes viewed with distrust and suspicion around the world, despite our drive, work ethic and enterprise. It appears that the pursuit of individual gain has become the primary focus over the common good; and success increasingly measured by financial parameters, whilst we appear to be losing the traditional values of contribution and dignity in labour which made our country great in the past.

Watch as we sit with Dr. Kayode Fayemi, Honorable Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Ifeoma Idigbe, Chairman WIMBIZ Board of Trustees, Ibukun Awosika WIMBIZ Trustee, Aishah Ahmad, Chairperson, WIMBIZ Executive Council, Ngover Ihyembe-Nwankwo WIMBIZ Executive Council Member and Yasmin Belo-Osagie, Co-founder She Leads Africa; to hear their views on the state of our values as a nation and as a people.
